National Poetry Month Day 2

“Love Is Truest”

love is truest when known as hate
the fire that burns away the lies
only then will she realize
love as strife the nacreous gate

to love as ire is a heavenly state
genuine love enjoyed when he cries
love is truest when known as hate
the fire that burns away the lies

rage is Cupid’s arrow aimed straight
cleansing the gaze of our lover’s eyes
to know the beloved as he dies
so wrath becomes love’s living trait
love is truest when known as hate
